Spartans in Championships In the Sussex road race championships on Sunday Bernard Dean [Bernard Dean (Spartan CRC)] as best of the Spartan Club entrants riding into sixth place. The only other club rider to finish was Roy Hillman [Roy Hillman (Spartan CRC)], who rode very steadily to finish 10th. The race, which was run in hot windy conditions, was won by W Lievesley (Southern Coureurs). Of the other members, two retired with punctures and one with an attack of cramp. The Thursday evening race was postponed because of a thunderstorm and will be run later. Tomorrow (Sunday) a club team will be riding in the Eastbourne Rovers’ road race over eight laps of a Ninfield, Ashburnham, Boreham Street circuit, starting at Boreham Street at noon. Event: |
