Hastings rider P. Baker [Peter Baker] beat the cycling club's 11- year-old record for 25 miles by 1min 37sec on Saturday. In establishing the new time of 58min 59sec, he became the first Hastings rider to complete the distance in under an hour. Baker's triumph came in the Woolwich CC time trial, held on the A2 from Cobham. The event was won by the new national 25-mile champion, A. Engers in 51min 10sec.
