The run to Rushden and district was carried out without incident. Leaving after lunch on Saturday, the riders reached their destination via London, Bedford and Milton Ernest, covering a distance of 133 miles, in ten hours, which included all stops for refreshment.
Sunday's run to Bognor and Chichester was also carried out satisfactorily. After breakfast Brighton, the coast road was followed via Worthing and Littlehampton to Bognor. Chichester was reached in time visit the cathedral and afterwards riders went forward to Arundel for lunch.
The route then lay over undulating country to Crossbush, Broadwater and the Old Shoreham road to Brighton. After tea at Lewes, they had an easy run home via Ringmer, Horsebridge and Ninfield. Hastings was reached 8 pm and the mileage was over 150. Wednesday's social run is to Barnhorn and Hooe, leaving at 7 pm.
To-morrow (Sunday) riders meet Christ Church, Ore, at 7am for a tour of Kent: tea at Stone 5 pm.

Hastings Cycling Club members attended the Eastbourne Rovers, CC dinner and folk evening at the Pier Hotel, Eastbourne, last Saturday. On Sunday morning, the ride was to Firle and Lewes, returning through Ringmer, Upper Horsebridge and Herstmonceux.

Hastings Cycling Club attended the East Sussex Cycling Association's [East Sussex CA] supper and presentations at Framfield on Saturday. On Sunday, the run was to Buxted returning through Lewes. The club juniors went on a training ride to Maidstone.

Tandem pair’s success

Hastings and St Leonards Cycling Club’s Peter Baker and Keith Evans finished in the top five of the Tandem Club 25 mile championships at Cambridge on Sunday.

The flat exposed course stopped the 90 strong field putting in fast times with the Hastings’ duo finishing in 57min10sec.

The Hastings junior road racing squad have had some success in the recent Lewes Wanderers CC circuit race series held at Laughton on Thursdays.

The event is hotly contested by a number of Sussex clubs up to 50 riders have been competing each week.

Mark Knowles, John Sharples and Chris Kitchenham all finished the three races well up the field with Mark winning the second.
